RAWALPINDI: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, on Monday at the Army’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the conversation centered on the existing relationship between Pakistan and Egypt, with special emphasis on enhancing cooperation in defence, security coordination, joint military programmes, and professional training initiatives. Both leaders also reviewed broader regional stability and peace efforts.

During the engagement, both sides reaffirmed their determination to expand collaboration and deepen the longstanding strategic and defence partnership that has connected the two nations for decades.

Minister Abdelatty also brought messages of goodwill from Egypt’s leadership and reiterated Cairo’s intention to further widen cooperation with Islamabad across multiple sectors.

Both delegations stressed the importance of continued top-level dialogue to meet evolving security challenges in the region and to maintain constructive engagement between the two countries.

This visit followed a similar high-level interaction last week, when Ali Ardeshir Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, met Field Marshal Munir in Rawalpindi.

In that earlier meeting, the discussions touched on regional security trends, bilateral collaboration, and the necessity of boosting Pakistan-Iran ties. Field Marshal Munir affirmed Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to regional peace, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts with Iran in addressing terrorism and emerging geopolitical realities.

Larijani, in response, acknowledged Pakistan’s significant role in promoting security across the region and expressed Iran’s resolve to further strengthen cooperation. He pointed to the importance of mutual dialogue and sustained engagement as key tools for promoting long-term regional stability.
