ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has called for a joint session of Parliament to convene tomorrow (Tuesday), marking the first combined sitting of both houses in almost nine months.
Insiders suggest that the agenda includes a series of important legislative items. Among them is the Journalists and Media Workers Safety Bill, which seeks to bolster legal protections for media personnel and ensure safer working conditions for those in the press sector.
Also expected to come under discussion is the Minorities Rights Commission Bill—legislation aimed at advancing constitutional protections and institutional backing for minority groups. Another notable item on the docket is the Pakistan Animal Council Bill, designed to establish national standards for animal care and welfare.
Analysts note that this joint parliamentary session carries significant political weight due to the prolonged hiatus since the last joint meeting. Attention is expected to be high as leading political figures—such as PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman—are slated to deliver remarks during the session.
With major proposals and influential political voices on the schedule, the gathering is viewed as a pivotal moment that could steer upcoming legislative priorities and parliamentary activity.
