Veteran Politician, Senior PML-N Leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui Passed Away In Islamabad

Senator Irfan Siddiqui, leader of the house in Senate, the Upper House of the Parliament has breathed his last is Islamabad after an illness.

Irfan Siddiqui served as Leader of the House in the Senate and was regarded as a trusted confidant of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, had been receiving treatment at a local hospital for the past two weeks. His condition reportedly worsened during this time.

Elected to the Senate from Punjab in 2021, Siddiqui was the PML-N’s parliamentary leader in the upper house. Before entering parliamentary politics, he was widely known for his long career as a columnist with the Urdu daily Jang.

News of his death prompted condolences from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and numerous colleagues. In separate statements, both the president and the prime minister paid tribute to Siddiqui’s political contributions, highlighting his role in strengthening democratic institutions and his longstanding service to the party.
