UK Army Chief Honors Pakistan’s Martyrs During GHQ Visit

RAWALPINDI – The Chief of the General Staff of the United Kingdom Army, General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker, visited the Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) on Thursday, where he held a meeting with Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The two commanders reviewed regional security developments and explored ways to further enhance defence cooperation between the UK and Pakistan. Both sides emphasised the need for continued military collaboration to help foster stability and peace in the region.

Their discussions highlighted a shared commitment to strengthening strategic ties and maintaining close coordination on evolving security challenges. Officials noted that sustained military engagement between the two countries remains essential for promoting mutual understanding and broader regional security.

General Walker commended the Pakistan Army’s extensive contributions to international peacekeeping missions and acknowledged its frontline role in the fight against terrorism. He also praised the sacrifices made by Pakistani soldiers in pursuit of peace and security.

Upon reaching GHQ, the British general laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada, paying tribute to Pakistan’s fallen heroes. A ceremonial guard of honour was later presented in his welcome.

The visit further reinforced the longstanding defence relationship between the armed forces of Pakistan and the United Kingdom, signalling both sides’ intent to continue constructive dialogue and cooperation.
