PCB Issues Termination Notice to Multan Sultans Over Owner’s Remarks

Multan Sultans - Naya Kashmir - NK

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a termination notice to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans, citing an alleged breach of contractual obligations.

According to sources, the move comes in response to recent public comments by franchise owner Ali Tareen, who had openly criticized certain PCB policies. The statements reportedly prompted disciplinary concerns within the board, leading to the suspension notice.

The PCB has formally notified the franchise of its suspension and warned that further action — including complete termination of the ownership rights — could follow if the matter remains unresolved. Officials added that the step was taken after reviewing compliance issues linked to PSL regulations.

Insiders confirmed that the board is prepared to explore alternate ownership options should the dispute persist, with the aim of ensuring a smooth transition before the 11th edition of the league.

The development has sparked uncertainty about Multan Sultans’ future participation in the PSL. Known as one of the league’s most prominent and high-value franchises, the Sultans reportedly pay around Rs1.25 billion annually in franchise fees.

Neither the PCB nor the franchise has issued an official statement regarding the ongoing dispute.
