VANCOUVER: Rising Pakistani squash star Ashab Irfan claimed the Vancouver Men’s Squash Open 2025 title, earning his maiden PSA World Tour championship with an impressive win over England’s Sam Todd in the final.

The 21-year-old, seeded fourth in the tournament, delivered a dominant performance to defeat Todd — the sixth seed — in straight sets, 11-9, 11-1, 11-5, wrapping up the match in just 43 minutes.

Following his triumph, Ashab proudly posed with the national flag after lifting the Richardson Wealth Men’s Vancouver Open 2025 trophy, a PSA World Tour Copper event featuring a total prize fund of $31,250.

This victory marks a significant breakthrough in Ashab’s young career, highlighting his rapid rise in the global squash rankings. Alongside fellow Pakistani player Noor Zaman, he represents a new generation aiming to revive Pakistan’s historic dominance in the sport.

While two Pakistani players featured in the 24-player draw, Noor Zaman — seeded third — was edged out in a close 2-3 quarterfinal clash against Todd.

Ashab’s latest success is being celebrated across Pakistan’s squash community as a promising sign of the country’s resurgence on the international stage.
