ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office has stated that recent acts of violence—including a shooting in the United States and a drone strike in Tajikistan—reflect a concerning re-emergence of terrorism worldwide, and asserted that Afghanistan bears responsibility for allowing such threats to emanate from its territory.

Speaking at the weekly media briefing, the FO spokesperson described the US shooting as a heartbreaking tragedy, extending Pakistan’s condemnation and condolences to the victims and their families. He noted that the attack in Washington highlights a broader global trend of extremist activity that demands urgent international cooperation to counter Afghan-based terrorism.

Commenting on the killing of three Chinese citizens in Tajikistan, the spokesperson conveyed Pakistan’s grief and solidarity with both the Chinese people and the government. He stressed that Afghanistan must ensure that militant elements are not allowed to plan or carry out attacks from within Afghan borders.

The spokesperson also criticized Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent remarks concerning Sindh, calling them “a clear breach of international norms.” He asserted that such provocative statements stem from a misguided mindset, adding that Pakistan will continue to advocate peaceful diplomatic solutions while firmly safeguarding its national security.
