PESHAWAR: The lineup for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s new provincial cabinet has been finalized, comprising ten ministers, two advisers, and one special assistant in its initial phase.

According to official reports, the summary for the cabinet’s formation was forwarded to the Governor House earlier today and has now received formal approval. The oath-taking ceremony is set for 3:00 PM at the Governor House, where Governor Faisal Karim Kundi will administer the oath to the newly appointed members.

Sources confirmed that several familiar figures are returning to the cabinet, including Meena Khan Afridi and Aftab Alam, both of whom previously held ministerial positions. Other expected members include Akbar Ayub Khan, Arif Ahmedzai, Adnan Qadri from Khyber district, and Idres Khattak from Nowshera.

New entrants such as Ehtesham Ali Advocate, Mian Sharafat, Dr. Amjad, Riaz Khan, Fazl Shakoor Khan, and Khaliq-ur-Rehman are also among those chosen, reflecting a balance of seasoned politicians and newcomers in the lineup.

Insiders disclosed that some adjustments were made to the list after Chief Minister Sohail Afridi met Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, at KP House in Islamabad. Following the meeting, Aqibullah (brother of former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser) and Faisal Tarakai (brother of Shahram Tarakai) were reinstated in the cabinet at Aleema Khan’s recommendation.

In addition to the ministers, Muzammil Aslam and Taj Muhammad Tarand have been appointed as advisers to the chief minister, while Shafi Jan will serve as the special assistant.

The oath-taking ceremony will be held at Governor House, Peshawar, this afternoon, officially marking the start of the new KP cabinet’s tenure.
