CRIME REPORT
PESHAWAR: Four alleged robbers were killed during a police encounter in Peshawar’s Mirakachori Mehr Gul Kallay area on Friday, officials confirmed.
According to Peshawar Police, the suspects had been involved in a series of armed robberies and other criminal activities dating back to 2003. Acting on intelligence about their presence, a police team reached the area, where the armed men reportedly opened fire on law enforcement. Police returned fire, killing all four suspects on the spot.
Police further stated that the gang had a long record of criminal operations across multiple districts. The suspects were known for disguising themselves in police uniforms to carry out robberies and had recently looted millions of rupees and gold ornaments from a doctor’s residence.
SSP Operations Peshawar Masood Ahmed Bangash confirmed that the identities of all four men have been verified, adding that three of them were Afghan nationals.
According to Bangash, the suspects were wanted by police in Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Nowshera, and several other districts for multiple high-profile robbery cases. Following the encounter, authorities recovered Kalashnikov rifles, a shotgun, two pistols, and motorcycles used in their operations.
Bangash said the police had been tracking the gang for months and described the encounter as a significant success in curbing organized crime in the provincial capital.
