MIRANSHAH: A convoy carrying District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmed came under attack on the Bannu–Miranshah Road in North Waziristan on Sunday, leaving five security personnel injured. Fortunately, the DPO escaped unhurt.

According to initial reports, the assault took place near the Mamash Khel area when unidentified assailants targeted the police convoy. The injured officers were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

DSP Qudratullah confirmed the incident, stating that security forces swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the attackers.

This latest attack comes weeks after a deadly bombing in Hangu district that claimed the lives of three police officials, including SP Operations Asad Zubair.

In that incident, an initial explosion occurred near a police check-post in the Gulmina area. As SP Asad Zubair and his team were on their way to inspect the site, their vehicle was struck by another explosive device near Darban, resulting in the martyrdom of SP Zubair and two other officers, while two personnel sustained injuries.
