ABBOTTABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday called upon the Afghan Taliban government to take decisive action against militants using Afghan soil for attacks inside Pakistan.
Speaking at the passing-out parade of the 152nd Long Course at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul, the army chief said, “Every proxy war waged by our neighbours will be reduced to dust.” He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty, adding, “We will not lose an inch of our sacred land.”
Field Marshal Munir accused India of politicising terrorism to serve its own interests and warned that any form of aggression would receive a “befitting response.” He reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces have successfully restored national confidence through recent victories and said that those launching attacks from Afghan territory must be restrained.
“There is no room for war between two nuclear powers,” the field marshal cautioned India’s leadership, emphasising that Pakistan’s deterrence capability is credible and its armed forces are always prepared.
The COAS described Pakistan’s recent operational successes, including Operation Bunyanun Marsoos, during which, he said, enemy targets such as Rafale aircraft and S-400 systems were neutralised. He credited these achievements to divine guidance, national unity, and the unwavering will of the Pakistani people.
“Pakistan’s victory against a numerically larger foe demonstrated our professional strength and divine support,”* he remarked, asserting that the country’s defence rests on *“credible deterrence and perpetual readiness.”
Field Marshal Munir urged India to resolve all outstanding disputes, including Kashmir, on the basis of equality and mutual respect. He warned that any escalation could have “catastrophic regional and extra-regional consequences,” stressing that responsibility for such fallout would lie solely with India.
“Our weapons can inflict long-range damage that defies any illusion of geographic safety,” he said, warning that Pakistan’s response to any provocation would be swift and decisive.
Highlighting Pakistan’s constructive role in global peace, the COAS said the country has emerged as a “net stabiliser”* in the region. He noted that Islamabad’s ties with major powers and Muslim countries have grown stronger, and praised Pakistan’s contributions to UN peacekeeping missions.
He also mentioned the new strategic defence pact with Saudi Arabia, calling it a landmark step that strengthens defence cooperation and underscores Pakistan’s commitment to the security of the Two Holy Mosques.
During the ceremony, Field Marshal Munir reviewed the parade and presented awards to outstanding cadets.
Concluding his address, Field Marshal Munir said Pakistan’s strength lies in the unity between its armed forces and its people. He paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country’s security and urged new officers to carry their legacy forward with pride and commitment.
