RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday reaffirmed the state’s resolve to uproot terrorism and eliminate foreign-sponsored networks, saying that Indian-backed groups — Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan — are pushing anti-people and anti-development agendas through disinformation campaigns.

Addressing participants of the 17th National Workshop Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ), the Army Chief said that comprehensive operations were underway to rid Balochistan of such extremist influences.

Describing Balochistan as the “pride of Pakistan,” Field Marshal Munir lauded the province’s people as patriotic, resilient, and full of potential. He stressed that both the federal and provincial governments are making concerted efforts to accelerate socio-economic development through a people-first approach.

Highlighting Balochistan’s immense economic promise, he said unlocking this potential is crucial for uplifting local communities and promoting balanced national progress.

The Army Chief commended the role of civil society and underscored the importance of empowering youth, saying they hold the key to sustainable development if they place national interest above personal or political divides.

He appreciated ongoing initiatives in education, skills training, and social inclusion, describing them as vital pillars for long-term peace and prosperity in the province.

Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, Field Marshal Munir said the country continues to champion stability across South Asia. However, he warned that any attempt—direct or indirect—to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty would be met with a firm and decisive response to protect the nation’s security and citizens.

The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, attended by senior officials, representatives from various sectors, and participants from across Balochistan.
