ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, visited Quaid-e-Azam University on Wednesday for an interactive session focused on Pakistan’s security environment and the growing influence of social media narratives.

Faculty members and students welcomed the DG ISPR, who spoke at length about internal security issues, defence policy, and how the Pakistan Army carries out its professional duties. He also underscored the importance of distinguishing real information from online propaganda, a topic that drew considerable interest from the audience.

Participants described the session as insightful, saying it addressed several misconceptions and provided clarity on matters often distorted on digital platforms. Many students expressed appreciation for the DG ISPR’s detailed responses to their questions on misinformation trends.

The university’s vice chancellor, while speaking at the event, praised Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif’s earlier assessments regarding India, saying recent global developments had validated many of his past statements. He noted that Pakistan’s armed forces had repeatedly demonstrated technological and operational strength.

Students later shared that they view themselves first and foremost as Pakistanis and see the Pakistan Army as an institution that rises from within society. They expressed gratitude for the open dialogue and the opportunity to question and learn directly from the military’s spokesperson.
