ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established central control rooms in both Islamabad and Lahore to closely monitor Sunday’s by-elections on six National Assembly and seven Punjab Assembly seats.

The primary control room at the ECP headquarters in Islamabad is under the supervision of Additional Director General Haroon Shinwari, who is overseeing election-related coordination and public complaints throughout the day.

A separate monitoring unit has also been set up in Lahore to keep track of the polling process across Punjab’s constituencies, ensuring immediate response to any issues reported from the field.

According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Election Commissioner, voting is underway at all polling stations under tightened security measures. He assured that the environment remains safe and urged voters to participate without hesitation.

Special facilitation has been arranged for vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, pregnant women, senior citizens, and transgender voters, who will be allowed to cast their ballots on priority.

The spokesperson reiterated that mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside polling stations. Voters have also been advised to protect the secrecy of their ballot and avoid photographing their vote.
