PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has convened the first meeting of his provincial cabinet on November 14, with an extensive agenda outlining several key administrative and development decisions.
According to official sources, this will be CM Afridi’s first formal cabinet session since taking charge of the provincial government. The meeting will be attended by 10 ministers, along with one special assistan and two advisers.
Among the major items on the 53-point agenda is the formal ratification of the Peace Jirga declaration held recently, signaling the government’s intent to advance reconciliation and stability initiatives in the province.
The cabinet will also deliberate on a 20% increase in toll taxes on the Swat Expressway, and the replacement of 25 official vehicles assigned to district and sessions judges.
Additionally, the meeting is set to review resolutions passed by the KP Assembly for implementation and may lift the existing ban on the purchase of VIP vehicles for the Governor’s Office.
A key initiative up for approval is the “One Farmer, One Cow” program — a scheme aimed at revitalizing the agricultural sector and strengthening the rural economy.
The cabinet is also expected to approve special rehabilitation funds for internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Tirah and North Waziristan, to speed up reconstruction and resettlement in those areas.
Other agenda items include the provision of a bulletproof vehicle for a Peshawar High Court bench and a detailed review of departmental performance reports.
Chief Minister Afridi is likely to issue new directives during the meeting to improve governance, streamline administrative efficiency, and push forward ongoing development projects across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
