CRIME AND COIURT
ISLAMABAD – A Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court has once again ordered the arrest of Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, issuing its eighth non-bailable warrant after she failed to appear for multiple hearings in the Sadiqabad police case.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah issued the latest warrant, noting that earlier directives had also been ignored. During the proceedings, the court was informed that 12 bank accounts linked to Aleema Khan have been frozen by Bank Alfalah and MCB. One of the MCB accounts reportedly contains Rs 12.4 million.
The court also expressed displeasure over the absence of officials from several banks, including UBL’s head office in Karachi and Habib Metro Bank. Non-bailable warrants were issued for UBL official Syed Mansoor Hussain and others who failed to submit required reports. Representatives from Golden Bank and the Bank of Punjab were served contempt notices for not providing the requested documents.
Prosecutors told the court that Aleema Khan has repeatedly avoided the proceedings, obstructing the trial and undermining the judicial process. The judge remarked that her conduct appeared to be a deliberate effort to ridicule the criminal justice system.
In a further move, the ATC ordered authorities to compile a full record of Aleema Khan’s movable and immovable assets, signalling that property seizure may be initiated next. The Islamabad Commissioner, Chairman CDA, and Chairman SECP have been directed to submit details of any properties, companies, or shareholdings registered in her name.
Because neither the accused nor her lawyer attended the hearing, the court was unable to record witness statements, resulting in another delay in the case.
