PESHAWAR: Security forces successfully repelled an infiltration attempt from across the Afghan border, killing 25 terrorists in heavy clashes, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
According to the military’s media wing, the militants tried to enter Pakistan through two separate points in North Waziristan and Kurram district.
The attempt was thwarted after intense gunfights, in which 15 terrorists were killed in Spinwam and 10 more in Ghakhi.
The ISPR confirmed that among those killed in Spinwam were four suicide bombers, and that a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the dead militants.
During the fierce exchange of fire, five Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom, fighting valiantly to defend the nation. The fallen heroes were identified as Havildar Manzoor Hussain (35) from Ghizer, Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kiyani (23) from Poonch, Sepoy Muhammad Adil (24) from Kasur, Sepoy Ali Asghar from Pakpattan, and Sepoy Shah Jehan (25) from Vehari.
Paying tribute to their courage, the ISPR said the troops demonstrated “extraordinary bravery and commitment,” setting an example for others to follow.
The infiltration attempts came as Pakistani and Afghan delegations were holding talks in Türkiye, raising renewed concerns over Kabul’s responsibility to curb cross-border terrorism.
