Pakistan Temporarily Closes Part of Airspace Near India Over Security Concerns

Airspace - Naya Kashmir - NK

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has imposed a temporary restriction on air traffic along its eastern border with India for two days, citing precautionary security measures amid reports of possible Indian military drills near the frontier.

Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed that the airspace connecting the Lahore and Karachi Flight Information Regions (FIRs) to India was closed for three hours. The same restriction will remain in place.

The CAA issued advance notifications to airlines and pilots on Monday, instructing them to adjust flight plans accordingly. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was also circulated to all local and international carriers, outlining the temporary airspace closure.

Authorities explained that the move was purely a precautionary step aimed at ensuring the safety of both domestic and international flights operating near the sensitive border zone. The decision follows intelligence suggesting Indian military activities close to the international boundary, prompting Islamabad to act to prevent any potential security risk or aerial mishap.
