MUZAFFARABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Tuesday announced its withdrawal from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government, declaring that it would not endorse any “unnatural” or opportunistic alliance to retain power.
The decision was made public by PML-N AJK President Shah Ghulam Qadir, who said the party had chosen to move to the opposition benches. He stated that while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had every democratic right to bring a no-confidence motion, the PML-N would stay true to its principles and not become part of any undemocratic manoeuvring.
Qadir made it clear that any party member violating the official stance would face disciplinary consequences. He stressed that a stable and legitimate government in AJK could only come through free and transparent general elections, not through political bargaining.
He reiterated the PML-N’s commitment to the welfare of refugees and overseas Kashmiris, saying the party remained a strong, organised force in the region.
Qadir also pledged that the PML-N would continue to play a constructive role in addressing the ongoing constitutional and political turmoil in the region.
Looking ahead, he said the party would soon launch a robust election campaign under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aimed at restoring political stability and democratic norms in AJK.
