DOHA (Qatar): World community including United Nations and European countired has largely praised the Hamas’ approach for peace under US President Donald Trump’s Gaza Plan.
Hamas’ acceptance of key elements in US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan has sparked a wave of international reactions, with leaders and institutions calling the move a rare opportunity to end the devastating war.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry in a statement revealed that it welcomed Hamas’s statement, including its “readiness to release all hostages.” Doha also endorsed Trump’s call for Israel to immediately halt its bombing of Gaza.
Egypt also praised Hamas’s response and described Trump’s proposal as a “realistic political vision” that could bring “peace and stability” to the Middle East. Cairo urged all parties to rise “to the level of responsibility required” to end the war.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Hamas’s move “constructive and a significant step toward achieving lasting peace.” He also demanded that Israel “immediately stop all its attacks” on Gaza.
French President Emmanuel Macron urged swift follow-up on Hamas’s commitment, saying it offered a chance to “make decisive progress towards peace.”
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared that “peace in Gaza and the release of the hostages are within reach,” signaling Berlin’s support for Trump’s mediation.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was “encouraged” by Hamas’s statement. He urged both sides to “seize the opportunity” to bring the conflict to an end.
Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reaffirmed her “full support for President Trump’s efforts” and stressed the need for a ceasefire that would enable the immediate release of all hostages.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer described Hamas’s acceptance of the plan as a “significant step forward” and said Trump’s initiative had brought the region “closer to peace than ever before.”
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese welcomed the progress but pressed Hamas to “lay down its arms and release all remaining hostages without delay.”
Colombian President Gustavo Petro took a stronger tone, calling for the “cessation of the genocide.” He said if Trump moved militarily to “stop the oppression over Palestine,” Colombia’s army would stand alongside.
