BANNU (KP): The military confirmed on Tuesday that 22 militants were killed during a precision-driven intelligence-based operation carried out by security forces in Bannu district.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the raid was launched after verified reports pinpointed the presence of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operatives—described as Indian-sponsored Khawarij militants—within the area.
The forces confronted the group after striking their hideout, leading to a fierce exchange of fire in which all 22 militants were eliminated. Troops are now conducting a detailed sweep of the surroundings to ensure no remaining threats are present, ISPR added.
The military reiterated that Pakistan’s ongoing anti-terror drive, operating under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework approved by the Federal Apex Committee in line with the National Action Plan, will press forward with full resolve to dismantle militant networks backed by foreign elements and to decisively curb terrorism across the country.
